Day 60: Florence- Siena-Rome
Today we had to get on the coach to leave Florence to head back to Rome. When we got on the coach it started to rain i just had this horrible feeling it was going to be a miserable day.
Before we got back to Rome we stopped at Siena. Siena was most common for their horse racing in the medieval times. Once a year they would have a race in the town square with 7 horses. They still do this now but we weren't in town for it. It's on on the 16th of August so we just missed out!
We visited the Siena Cathedral. Which from a distance looked like it was black and white but when we went closer it had pink tones to it as well. The art work was incredible! You could tell it was a roman cathedral because it had to roman symbol of the shewolf. The cathedral has a medieval architecture with the shapes of the windows, doors and the spikes sticking out from the building.
Once we finished looking at the cathedral it started pissing down with rain we didn't have any umbrellas so we had to run to the nearest shop and stay there for a while. We had to run shop to shop for a while until we found a shop that sold an umbrella. Then we got to a cafe had a nice warm drink and some lunch.
We then met up with the rest of the group and quickly walked back to the coach before we got to saturated. It was such a shame because it was such a beautiful area and it would have been nice to take more photographs.
We hoped back onto the tour bus because it was a three hour journey back to Rome. When we were driving we drove past a American War memorial just outside Florence called the Florence American Cemetery and Memorial.
We arrived at the Sheridan hotel where we are staying our last night in Rome. The hotel room was stunning and it even had a pool which we didn't go in. We got to the hotel and then we had to get ready to go out to have our fair well dinner. We had our dinner at a restaurant with a beautiful view of the mountains.
It's sad to say goodbye to some of these people I have defiantly made friends and It will be sad to leave them behind.
