Day 41: Cape Town
This morning we woke up to be ready and all packed to leave the hotel for the shuttle to the airport at 7am. It took around a 15 minute drive and by the time we checked in it was around 7:45. We then decided to have some breakfast, Andrew had a pizza and I was the healthy one having a fruit salad!!
When we arrived at the airport we got our bags then met our guide called Alan we are using his company for a few drives this trip. He had a professional sign saying Andrews name that had flashing lights on it. Because you know you need to bring more attention to it than just having a sign haha. I felt like a celebrity. Alan took us to the place we are staying at which is called the glen boutique. God it was incredible!! We had to go through paperwork while they brought our bags up to the room.
We left the hotel at 2 to go for a walk to the waterfront. Alan said it would take around 10-15 minutes, but when we went to the front office they said it would take us around 45 minutes!! We decided to walk anyways because we had nothing else to do.
Walking to the waterfront you walked near the foreshore of the ocean. There was artwork scattered all over the foreshore. There was one that was about the pouching of rhinos. They made a rhino shape out of cut metal pieces and they were placed so that if you looked through something it made a rhino shape. It was so cool. It made it look like you were going to shoot the rhino.
We then walked past a old lighthouse and the stadium they created for the World Cup in football.
The waterfront had a huge shopping centre which was open from 9 am to 9 pm. There were so many different shops. Such as kids, female, male clothing, furniture, African souvenir and jewellery shops. On the outside there are two levels of restaurants you could choose from. Each restaurant have their menus on the outside and some provide a special on the night to invite people in.
We left at 5 to walk back before it got to dark. We didn't get back till 6 and while we were waking the power cut which meant our entire area didn't have power. This meant that no street lights were on and no traffic lights so it was a bit chaotic!
We decided not to have dinner tonight because we were still hungry from lunch. We then watched a movie on Andrews tablet until the power kicked back on then watched a movie on the television then went to bed.
