Day Thirty Four

Day 34: Livingstone

Today we woke up at 5:30 to make sure we were getting picked up at 6:15 am at reception for our elephant experience. We were the first to get picked up and then we went to all the other hotels. They were pretty nice hotels. When we arrived at the elephant place we had a quick induction and then we got to choose which elephant we wanted. There wasn't enough elephants to have one each so we said we would go together which meant Andrew and I could choose which elephant we wanted to ride. Of course we chose the tallest elephant there his name was Danny. In total there were 10 elephants which included 2 babies. When we went on our elephant ride we started in a row of elephants while the babies just walked around with us on our trail. The babies were so adorable they were play fighting and wanted to play with everyone. After our elephant ride we watched the video footage and photographs that the tour took of us. I didn't buy those because I took my own photographs. But I did buy a painted elephant foot print of Danny. When we finished off at the elephant park we got back in the bus and had to drop everyone back to their hotels and once again we were last to come back. We arrived back at the camp site for 10:30.

After the elephants we decided we wanted to go to angels pool. We left the campsite at 12. Angels pool is a pool that is right above the Victoria falls. It had such an amazing view!! We got the taxi to Livingstone royal hotel which is a very very posh hotel!! We then waited for the tour to start. Then we got on a little boat to head towards angels pool. When we first arrived we got a maize drink that the locals drink. There were Andrew and I and 4 other people doing the tour. We wore our bathers because we knew we could swim in the pool. One elderly couple didn't realise you could swim so they just stood around. The water was absolutely freezing and it was amazing how strong the current was going down the falls. There was a rope you needed to hold on to when we were in the water. After we went in the water the guide took us to go see devils pool and got us to sit down and took photographs of us with an amazing view!!! After the photographs the guide washed our feet because they were really muddy. then we sat at the table and got served a full course lunch. They catered so well for gluten free. Was such an amazing place and I am so glad we ended up doing it!!

That night we had an introduction meeting with the new 5 people who joined the crew. The new people were actually really nice. There are three Australians and two Belgians. We just had dinner at the restaurant near us again. We couldn't go into town because there were riots in town so it was safer at the hotel.

Tomorrow we are leaving Zambia and heading to Zimbabwe and doing a game park so excited to see animals!!!!

Xx
