Day 22: Dare slam
Today is our last morning in Zanzibar. We had breakfast at our hotel then I quickly went to the beach to take a few last minute photographs by the ocean.
We then had to double check our rooms to make sure we didn't leave anything. We had to meet our guide at 9 am to get on the bus for our hour drive back to Stone Town. Once we got back to stone town we went back to the first hotel we stayed at called Zenji hotel to grab some food for lunch.
Then we had to treck all the way to the ferry with our suitcases. We had to wait till 12:30 to leave on the ferry to head to Dare slam. The ferry ride went for 2 hours. Man the entire time I was on the ferry all I could smell was bio. It was horrible I was trying so hard to not breath with my nose because it smelt so bad!!!!
Once we got to dare slam we had to catch another ferry to our truck that we spend the whole trip on. This ferry was one that cars can go on to cross to the other side of dare slam. It was so strange we had to push our way onto the ferry next to cars to cross the river. Once we got over the other side we walked 10 minutes to get to the truck. It was huge !!! It reminded me of either a prison truck or the bus from the tv show the magic school bus. The truck took us to our first camp site.
We learnt how to put up the tents and had to put up our own ones up. It reminded me so much of school camp times haha. We all had duties to do so myself and another girl had to clean the truck such as sweeping and moping it was pretty easy nothing I haven't done before :p tomorrow we are doing Dishwasher duty wooh :/
After dinner we just chilled by the bar and now I'm relaxing in my sleeping bag all warm and snug. Xx
