Day 33: Livingstone
Today we had to make sure we were up and ready for rafting by 8:15 am. To get our life jackets, helmets and paddles. Our guide was called marvin so We were team marvin!! There were 5 of us from our group and then we had to have 3 people join us. A guy from England called Peter and 2 people from Spain. At first I thought they were a couple but they were flight attendant friends on a lay over. We had to get on a bus to the first raft point. When we got there we had to climb down the mountain on this hand made ladder made from tree trunks. I did not feel safe climbing down but I was proud because I did it all without any help I was making everyone go slower though which I felt horrible for.
When we got to our raft boat we took off our shoes and jumped straight into the raft. We were the last raft to leave because one of the guys had to take a pee. I was on the back of the boat near the guide. We went a few little rapids which were easy but then the next one we did the guide warned us we might tip the boat. And of course he jinxed and we tipped the stupid boat!!! I got stuck under the boat and could not get out. I had contact lenses in and I was afraid they fallen out because water got into them. I got out from the boat and moved to where the other people were and then the guide had to flip the boat back the right way. He flipped it on top of us so I got stuck under again!!! It was so scary! I was actually petrified but when I got back onto the boat I was fine. Still was a bit shaken up! And of course we were the only raft to freaking tip from all of them on this rapid.
After that rapid I swore I was not going into the water again. I Held on for dear life!! Brian managed to fall out when we all had to move to the back of the boat. We were trying to find him and then the boat went over this huge wave and still I was holding on and we saw Brian's head pop up from the water. It was hilarious once again Andrew got it on the go pro.
There were a few rapids that you could go down by yourself you just had to make sure you stayed away from the rocks. One of the rapids everyone got back into the boat and I drifted down by myself I was so stressed that I should be on the boat too but it was too late I was just drifting away. The instructor looked after me in the water and I was the only one game enough to do it :P
I was very surprised when we got to the last rapid that we were the first boat to get back to the shore. Especially because we were the last one to leave. We then had to hike back up the mountain. It was so steep and hard work. When we got back to the bus. Then drove back to our camp site. Had a buffet lunch and then had showers and got ready for the sunset cruise.
The sunset cruise was on the ..... Cruise. It included dinner and drinks. We watched the sunset on the boat. We Saw elephants, a hippo and a crocodile.
When we got back to the dock we spent the rest of the night at the bar.
Tomorrow Andrew and I have to wake up at 5:30 am. So we might be pretty sore in the morning .
