Day 37: South Africa
Today we had breakfast at 6. Then headed on our road trip at 6:30 to head to the South African boarder. We stopped off to have lunch at a petrol station which only sold fast food. I asked the chicken shop if the chicken had gluten and she was certain it didn't have any. Then when I got my meal it had chips as well and they definitely had gluten in them. So I had such a shitty lunch. From the lunch point we were about 5 minutes from the boarder to South Africa.
At the boarder we waited about half an hour waiting for someone to tell us which queue to stand in. After we found out which queue we needed to get our stamps it took another hour to be served. It was so hot and I swear I was going to faint. Finally we got served and then we had to get all of our luggage out of the truck and take it to immigration to be scanned almost like the airport. This actually surprisingly didn't take too long. While we were getting our bags scanned they were searching the truck which took ages. Finally everyone sat on the truck and was ready to leave at 3:30!! Man it was pathetic. No one helped us at all and they expected us to know everything.
After the boarder the camp site we are staying at is around about an hour and a half drive. We stopped off at a supermarket to grab some snacks and Elton needed to buy food for dinner. We didn't leave the shops till 5 pm which meant we didn't get to the camp site for 6:30 pm so by the time we set up our tents it was starting to get dark.
This has by far been one of the worst days of the trip so far. I think tomorrow might be like this as well but instead of a boarder will just be stuck on truck.
The camp site we are staying at tonight is called Tshipise a forever resort. It was huge! As soon as we went to our camp site we put up our tents and then prepped for dinner. Then Andrew and I went exploring to find power points to charge our stuff. There was a outdoor pool that was hot like a spa. When you were in it you could see steam coming off the pool you didn't want to get out of it! There were four different pool at this resort. A indoor heated pool, outdoor heated pool, outdoor normal pool and a kiddies pool. There was mini golf and trampolines. There was a restaurant/ bar, laundrette and a butcher. It was insanely big! It was a shame we are only here for the night there is so much to do!!
Tomorrow we are driving to the camp site we are staying near Kruger national park. That night there is a dinner with locals and singing and dancing should be fun.
Xx
