Day Seventeen

Day 17: Zanzibar

Today we arrived in Dare slam and realised we needed to get a Tanzanian visa!!! We only had two hours until our next flight so we were pretty stressed out. It cost us 50 US for the visa luckily we had spare money in my backpack. We waited almost half an hour for the visa then we found our bags on the conveyer belt even though they were going to go straight to Zanzibar but no we had to go grab them as well. Then as we were just about to go through a metal detector again the couple in front of us were heading to Zanzibar to and a worker told them that the flight was at another terminal luckily I was ease dropping because that was our flight too!!!! So we had under an hour to get to the other terminal get out boarding passes and put our check in our baggage. It was pretty stressful!! But oh well we got here in the end that's all that matters.

The second plane was tiny only fitted around 12 people. We were restricted to 15 kg each person but the flight before said we could have two bags of 23 kg so this lady in front had 40kg worth of stuff in her suitcase like how can things weigh that much!! Luckily they were pretty slack about the weight restrictions we were only a little bit over. It was a 30 minute flight to Zanzibar. The plane was almost like a scenic plane so I felt like I was taking a scenic flight about Zanzibar.

We arrived at 8:05 am. Luckily we had a taxi ordered already to drop us off at the hotel. The hotel we are staying at Is the Zenji hotel. It is a little small but it's beautiful and the workers are amazing! We couldn't get into our room till 10 am so we had a few hours on the Internet on the roof top. Btw the Internet is awesome here!!!

We had the rest of the day to chill and relax until 2:30 when a guy from cheetah rock came to pick us up from our hotel. Cheetah rock is a non profit rehabilitation place for animals. Jenny the owner showed us many animals that she has trained. We met a zebra called Chaka, two bush babies They almost looked like possums called one was called Maurice, Ringtail Lemurs, a hyena called Gizmo, a cheetah called Tyson and my favourite a white lion called Aslan. This was one of my favourite moments of my trip so far. We got to get up close and personal to all the animals even got in the enclosure with Aslan the lion!!! We didn't get back to the hotel till around 8 pm.
