Day 39: Kruger National Park
Today we had to get picked up at 5:30 for our game drive around Kruger national park. There were two cars to take us most the people jumped on the first one so there were only 5 of us on the other car which was nice for us because we could all have a window seat. The company we did the drive with was called Kurts safari. Our driver Franky was such a nice guy and he was so helpful with me allowing me to take so many photographs.
We saw lots most animals than the other national park we did the other game drive at. The first animals we saw were the wild dogs. Apparently there a endangered species and very rare to see in the wild which was so awesome!!
We saw lots tones of other animals when we were driving around Kruger such as elephants, wilder beasts, hippos fighting in the water, warthogs, monkeys, giraffes, deer and eagles. These were only some of the other animals we saw in Kruger.
Then we saw three white rhinos in different areas. The white rhino is one of the most endangered animals in the world. People poach them for their horns and also they think its good luck to have parts of the rhino near them. Which is just disgusting!!!!
We then saw hyenas which was awesome!! They had two little babies with them which were hiding in a home and they just popped up which was do cute. Hyenas is known to be one of the ugliest animals but I think there pretty cute. They are also one of the most dangerous animals.
We then searched for lions. In the morning we heard over the walkie talky that there were lions eating a giraffe carcass. So we drove to that area but we just missed them they just started walking in the direction we came. It was soo annoying!! I really wanted to see a lion in the wild.
Then we stopped for lunch at a picnic area. After lunch we went to another section of the national park. This section was actually not that great we didn't see many animals at all. This section on one side was burnt then the other side was nice and green. We then saw hundreds of zebras and monkeys in the burnt trees. These were the last animal we saw before it was time to leave Kruger national park.
Then left Kruger national park at 3. So we got back to the camp site for 3:30. It was a very long day but it was amazing!! Shame we didn't see lions or leopards but we did see two of the big 5. Elephants and rhinos.
That night we had to pack our bags because tomorrow we are leaving for Jo burg. It was the last night Elton cooked for us and for dinner I had ampalla which is a type of deer. It was actually pretty tough. I have actually tried a lot of different foods this trip even considering I'm a celiac.
Then we hung out by the camp fire talking and then went to check out the wifi. Then headed to bed because tomorrow we have a big morning making sure everything is packed up for heading to Jo burg.
